Banish Household Toxins and Breathe Freely

Hazardous waste drop-off facilities are a common sight in our neighborhoods. How have we become so complacent about this? Hazardous waste has become a part of our everyday lives. Isn't it ironic that so many of the cleaners that we use to keep our homes clean are very toxic!
Do you know that the toilet bowl cleaner that you are probably using contains highly caustic sodium hypochlorite (chlorine), which is a common name for bleach? This pollutes rivers and ponds, and can destroy the bacterial balance in sewage preventing its natural break down. It is poisonous to humans and should not be inhaled. Most laundry detergents contain bleaches, phosphates, perfumes, synthetic detergents, and often enzymes. Between them they can seriously pollute fresh water and aggravate or cause eczema and other skin conditions. Many only work well when used with hot water, which is a waste of energy.
We live in a toxic world surrounded by pollution and synthetic chemicals, and we are often unaware of the dangers to which we are exposing ourselves. This is especially true for women, as we are the ones usually burdened with keeping a clean house, and traditionally that has meant using harsh chemicals to do it. There are many threats posed by environmental pollutants to woman's health. A growing body of evidence suggests that a broad range of woman's health problems now on the rise may be linked to the exposure of synthetic chemicals in our environment, including everyday household cleaners. Our children's health is increasingly being put at risk as well. Parents are becoming more and more worried, and they want nontoxic alternatives.
Most of us do not know that there are choices besides using toxic household cleaners. The truth is, contrary to what manipulative marketers would have us believe, it is not necessary to use so many "high Tech" chemical products. There are simple, natural alternatives to chemical cleaners.
